While this is true in the present, it wasn’t ever the case. In this piece, we are going to look at the history of museums.

The very first museum that we see in history dates back to the beginning of Greece. Museums were not used to support sciences and arts in this time. You could find many tributes to gods within these early museums. The purpose of these museums was centered around the gods, and the people employed there were supposed to protect their work.

The first museum situated in Mesopotamia was built around 530 B.C. Its first curator was a princess who had accumulated art. Then, moving to the earliest times of Rome we can see the very first exhibit of art but this was reserved only for the elite class to see.

The 1800s brought the first museum in New York City. The majority of the items that were collected to be used in the museum was sourced from Europe. Animals were among the most well-known items can be found in the museum.

In general, the history of museums is fascinating. The first editions of museums are quite different from what we see today.
